Datacom's DM4920 Muxponder equipment allows for the transport of up to 1.6Tbps of data in a single modular chassis, significantly optimizing the use of metropolitan optical fibers and providing an even more advantageous return on investment in the cabling infrastructure.
The solution consists of a four-slot chassis, offering a flexible and efficient configuration. Two of these slots are designated for Muxponder interface cards, while the other two slots accommodate optical amplification cards or passive DWDM Multiplexer cards.
The DM4920 was developed for indoor operation environments, featuring a compact design of only 2U in height. Its design includes two Hot-swap ventilation modules, and its power supply is highly flexible, accepting full-range DC or AC sources and offering support for redundancy in any desired combination.
Based on the DmOS network operating system, the DM4920 ensures robustness and high service availability on a platform supporting a range of functionalities.
Its versatility allows for various applications: it can be used to establish point-to-point links, with or without amplification, also supporting in-line regeneration. It functions equally as a transponder, capable of operating as an alien lambda in an existing optical layer, significantly expanding the possibilities for implementation and integration into already established optical networks.
Datacom's DM4920 was designed with a specific focus on two key applications in the DWDM market, offering versatile and efficient solutions for different networking needs.
Optical cover
The first application focuses on Optical Cover solutions, where the DM4920 can be applied to illuminate optical systems where the fibers are dark, i.e. creating an optical application from scratch, ranging from simple configurations without amplification to more complex solutions that require amplification and other advanced features. Below are some examples:
Single channel 400Gbps with optical amplification
Single channel application, without multiplexer, with optical amplification only
Maximum capacity
Application with maximum capacity (4x 400Gbps), with multiplexer and optical amplification
Signal regeneration
Link with intermediate site for signal regeneration
Lambda Alien
The second application, Lambda Alien, is ideal when the DM4920 is integrated into an existing network to expand the capacity of the already established optical layer, offering a cost-effective alternative to adding a transponder to existing platforms from other manufacturers.
