What is the DM4920?

The first model in the DM4900 Line, the DM4920 stands out for integrating the essential MULTIPLEXER, TRANSPONDER and DWDM functionalities into a single system. This combination results in a versatile solution capable of meeting a wide range of networking requirements. It presents itself as the ideal choice for providers and operators looking to optimize their network infrastructures, offering an efficient alternative in terms of both cost and space.

Multiplexer:
Responsible for multiplexing 100GbE client interfaces into a single line interface, maximizing data transmission efficiency.

Transponder:
Converts electrical signals into "color" optical signals, tuned to a specific C-Band DWDM channel, using Coherent optical modulation technology for greater capacity and accuracy.

DWDM:
It incorporates advanced features related to DWDM technology in the optical domain, including the use of C-band channels, EDFA optical amplification, and a DWDM optical multiplexer to optimize data transmission over long distances.

Applications:

Datacom's DM4900 was designed with a specific focus on two key applications in the DWDM market, offering versatile and efficient solutions for different networking needs. The first application, Lambda Alien, is ideal when the DM4900 is integrated into an existing network to expand the capacity of the already established optical layer, offering a cost-effective alternative to adding a transponder to existing third-party platforms.

The second application focuses on Optical Cover solutions, where the DM4900 stands out in the configuration of optical systems in dark fibers, that is, in creating an optical application from scratch, ranging from simple configurations without amplification to more complex solutions that require amplification and other advanced features. Below are some examples:

Single channel application, without multiplexer, with optical amplification only

Application with maximum capacity, with multiplexer and optical amplification

intermediate site as signal regenerator:

General product features:

With a compact 2U rack-style design, the DM4920 is an efficient and powerful solution for modern networks. The Product stands out for:

High Transmission Capacity:

The DM4920 offers impressive transmission capacity of up to 1.6 Tbps. This is possible thanks to its 16 100GE QSFP-28 client interfaces, which are aggregated into 4 tunable 400Gbps DWDM Coherent line interfaces, maximizing efficiency and performance.

EDFA Amplification and Integrated Mux/Demux:

Equipped with 2 slots for booster amplifiers and EDFA preamplifiers, the DM4920 allows the implementation of a robust DWDM optical layer with 400Gbps lambdas. Furthermore, it offers the option of integrating an 8-channel multiplexer, essential for long-distance transmissions and optical regeneration.

Advanced Remote Management:

With SFP interfaces for FE modules, the DM4920 facilitates inband management of remote elements, enabling centralized and efficient network administration.

High Availability Hardware:

The DM4920's design focuses on reliability, with removable and redundant power supplies, compatible with full range AC and 48V DC. Its redundant and removable ventilation system ensures continuous and efficient operation in a variety of conditions.
