When unity speaks louder: Datacom as a support point during the 2024 flood

In May 2024, Eldorado do Sul was one of the cities most affected by the floods that hit Rio Grande do Sul. More than 80% of the city was submerged, and in the midst of this challenging scenario, Datacom's headquarters became a temporary support point for more than 600 people.

The company, which has innovation and social responsibility in its DNA, opened its doors spontaneously, adapting its spaces to welcome families in need of safety. For five days, people like Pâmela Bernardes and Felipe Silva found shelter, support, and peace of mind at the location, living with dozens of other families at a time that required resilience from everyone.

The story was told in one of the special reports in the series “Pra cima, Rio Grande” (Upwards, Rio Grande), on Jornal do Almoço, on RBS TV. Presenter Marco Matos visited the company and spoke with Daniel Pigato, Datacom’s Director of Research and Development. In the interview, Daniel recalled how everything happened, thanked the sheltered workers for the respect they showed for the company’s structure, and acknowledged the efforts of the employees, who, despite being severely affected, showed strength and unity to resume operations as soon as possible.

This episode was not only a difficult chapter in the city’s history — it was also a testament to how collaboration between people and institutions can alleviate pain and rekindle hope.

Datacom feels part of this reconstruction and remains committed to the state’s development, both within and outside the technology universe.
